Conservation of the magnificent interiors at St Mary’s, Lydiard Tregoze
Symposium on the significant programme of works at the Church which have been supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, thanks to National Lottery players.
Lydiard House Conference Centre, Lydiard Park, Swindon SN5 3PA
People have been worshipping at St. Mary’s for over 1000 years and during that time the church has been rebuilt, enlarged, decorated, and adorned in response to the changing demands of different centuries. Social and political upheaval, variations in the population, economic factors and not least the influence of the great families which held the manor of Lydiard Tregoze, have all played their part.
This symposium represents the culmination of a significant programme of works at the Church which has been supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Under the direction of Jane Rutherfoord ACR, the project has seen the conservation of the Church’s extensive and nationally significant medieval wall paintings, 17th century monuments, carved woodwork and star-spangled ceiling alongside an extensive training programme offering students and emerging conservation professionals the chance to develop and hone their practical conservation skills.
Join us to hear about this magnificent and inspiring project.
