A FREE family fun day brings conservation and history to life at St. Mary’s Church on 17th August with hands-on children’s activities and plenty for curious adults too! Come and discover the conservation happening to St. Mary’s ancient wallpaintings inside the building. Hard hats for grown-ups and children will be provided for fascinating tours under the mysterious scaffold. Outside enjoy a variety of themed activities including getting to know the bugs and pests which attack old buildings to revealing your own mini-wallpainting and exploring and spotting old building materials.
Project Learning and Engagement Provider, Charlotte Hollis says:
If you haven’t discovered what’s going on inside Lydiard’s church in the park, this is a unique opportunity. Judging by how much local school pupils and teachers have enjoyed their visits recently, I’m sure that families will be equally enthralled.
This is a drop-in activity, no need to book. All children must be accompanied by their parent/s or responsible adult.
